I will place a copy of the idea in mailboxes!!  This is one we need to be using grade 4, 5, 6, 7, & 8.  Leave a Comment for eligibility in the drawing...coming soon!

  1. I always enjoyed using the Frayer Model in science - great tool for content vocabulary, and sometimes we would edit the 4 boxes to have different categories as needed (if the examples/non-examples didn't work...etc)

  2. We use the Frayer model in math frequently. It helps the kids organize their thoughts and ideas around a new or previous concept, ESPECIALLY geometry! They like the fun with non-examples and when they giggle, somehow it sticks and they do a better job of remembering what it is we are learning! Thanks for the ideas, I like using these each week, keeps it fresh!

  3. I'm planning to assign the Frayer model as a culminating activity for 8th graders who have just finished writing a formal argumentative paper. My challenge for them: work with a team and collaborate on an FM to "define" the term: formal argument.

Thank you for sharing. I love sharing because you all get my thinking stimulated.

  5. I have always had trouble working with the Frayer model, having only one success in the past with the term "sovereignty". I am inspired to try it again, possibly with the term "transcendentalism" or "reform". Thanks for bring this to the forefront again.

  6. Ooooh, the FM will were so well for those concepts. Abstract ideas work really well. Thanks for sharing, Colleen. Would you take a picture of the FM and send it to me? I'll post it on this blog.
